Although they were very, very different, Everett and Manny were very, very best friends.
Everett was a large grey elephant.
Manny was a small brown monkey.
His real name was Manfred, but Everett called him Manny.
Manny liked to ride on Everett's back as they explored their jungle neighborhood.
"Manny, Manny, riding on my back," sang Everett. "Up and down the trails we go, making lots of tracks."
Manny jumped up and down on Everett's back and made happy, chittery monkey sounds.
All morning, until lunch time, and every afternoon, after their nap, Everett and Manny rode around the jungle.
They saw King Leonard, the Lion.
They saw Gerry the Giraffe.
They even saw Penny the Python, wrapped around a tree limb, high over head.
