I had other grandparents and Great Grandparents too. I was very lucky.
My Momma's parents lived far away and I didn't get to see them very often. My Grandpa was a minister and they moved every four years to a new church in a new town, but they never moved to our town. It was fun to visit them because my other cousins were usually there. We had to be very quiet in their house because my Grandma was sick a lot.
Sometimes she felt pretty good and would play the piano and we would all stand around and sing church songs.
Once we did get to go camping with them. We all stayed in a great big tent, right on the shores of Lake Huron. My Grandpa had a funny looking swimsuit. It had a top and fastened to a pair of shorts that came down to his knees. He had a scar on his chest because he gave some of his skin to a little girl that had been burned and needed some new skin for her face.
He also saved a little boy from drowning one time, but I wasn't there when that happened. I just heard about it because Momma told me.

Sometimes, we got to go to Grandpa's church and listen to him preach. He stood up in front in a pulpit, high above the rest of the people and told us all about how Jesus loved us and we had to be good to get to Heaven so we could see Jesus.
My Momma's grandparents lived pretty far away too. He was also a minister, but he didn't preach in a church anymore. He used to have church meetings in a great big tent outside. We only got to see them on special occasions, usually in the summer time.
My Daddy's other grandmother, my Grandma Helene's mother, didn't live very far away, but she was kind of old and sick, so we didn't go visit too much.
One time I got to go and it was pretty neat. She was a very short, little woman and she had a pet parrot named "Coquette" that sat on her shoulder and ate crackers from her hand.
I sat really still because I was afraid that big bird was going to fly at me and peck me.
