Chapter Eight

Karen ran toward camp.

Lucikly, while they were hiking and the other girls were chattering away, Karen had been watching the way to the cave and knew the way back to camp.

Within an hour, the other camp counselors had widened the opening of the cave enough for Mr. Dobson and the girls to get out.

"I am so glad you're so small," Heather said to Karen.

"Small?" asked Mr. Dobson.

"There is nothing small about Karen.

She is the biggest hero we have!"

As they all walked back to camp, Karen's cabin mates thanked her, patted her on the shoulder and crowded around her as each tried to be the one to walk next to her.

"When we go swimming tomorrow, will you be my buddy?" asked Susan.

"Can I work with you in crafts tomorrow?" asked Heather.

"Hey, can we sit next to you at dinner tonight?" asked Mary and Alicia.

"I'm going to ask my Mom if you can come spend a weekend at our house," said Sarah, as she draped her arm around Karen's shoulder.

"Neat," thought Karen.

"Now, this is neat!"
